Beastie Boys - “Looking Down the Barrel of a Gun”
Beastie Boys - “Rhymin’ & Stealin’”
Sabbath riff over a Zep drum break. Still one of my favorite Beastie songs.
Beastie Boys - No Sleep ‘Til Brooklyn
Another favorite off of Licensed to Ill. Check out the cameo from Slayer’s Kerry King near the end of the video. Rick Rubin was producing both Licensed to Ill and Reign in Blood at the time, thus King’s guitar work on both this song and Fight For Your Right. Both the Beastie Boys and Slayer notoriously shared an aversion for the glam rock scene that existed during the time.
Beastie Boys - Rhymin’ and Stealin’
Classic Beasties tracks. I kind of find it cool that I can identify the songs where the samples come from now. Didn’t really care much about that kind of thing when I first heard this as a kid. The drum break’s from Led Zep’s When The Levee Breaks and The riff’s from Sabbath’s Sweet Leaf. Of course there’s also a small reference to The Clash’s I Fought The Law near the end. Didn’t really listen to the post-Ill Communication stuff too much but I always admired how creative they were with their use of samples.
